Railway station celebrates 175 years

Sowerby Bridge railway station was taken back to the future last weekend, when it celebrated its 175th birthday. The station was be decorated with Victorian themed bunting and flags to recreate scenes from 175 years ago. Volunteers from Friends of Sowerby Brige Station were in Victorian costume to commemorate the occasion.  A number of local businesses and traders also decorated their windows during the weekend. A specially commissioned painting depicting an 1840s scene was also be on display in the Jubilee Refreshment Rooms for visitors to see throughout the event.
