Despite the downpour, people flooded in to ensure a great day was had by everyone at the Threeways Sports Centre Summer of Fun Fayre.

From sweet treats and face painting to karate demonstrations and art activities, as well as a live band and barbecue, there was something to suit everyone.

Trish Duffy, a volunteer supervisor at the Halifax centre, said that everyone made the best out of the bad weather.

“Although we had planned to hold the event outside, we did as much as we could inside the centre.

“Around 100 people came, we all had a good time and it also got new people through the door so they could see what Threeways is about.

“All in all we enjoyed the day.”

Threeways Sports Centre at Nursery Lane, Ovenden, recently won the award for Best New Charity at this year’s Courier’s community spirit awards.
