RESCUERS were called to help a man who fell ill while walking.

Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team were at a music festival in Luddenden Foot when they were called to Bride Stones in Todmorden at 4.10pm on Monday.

The 84-year-old was suffering from chest pains and sickness. Using their Land Rover ambulance, they took him over open fields and rough tracks to a waiting ambulance so he could be taken to hospital

Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team is made up of around 50 volunteers who are trained to search for and rescue people around the South Pennine moors, as well as searching for missing people in urban areas and evacuating people who are hurt, often from places the ambulance cannot reach.

Their services are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They rely on donations to fund their work.
