AN ARMY of volunteers took to a Sowerby neighbourhood for a community clean-up.

Residents of Beechwood took part in a litter-pick organised by the area’s residents’ association.

Susan Merry, chairwoman of the group, said: “It went really well and we had a very good turn-out.

“The four skips that we had out had all been filled by lunch time so everybody really took advantage of it.

“We just wanted to clean up the community and make people proud of where we are living.”
