KNIFE-POINT robbers escaped with hundreds of pounds from a pub in Rastrick.
The pub’s co-owner Ross Brinkworth, was cashing up at Rastrick Ale House in Greenhead Lane when the theft happened on Tuesday night. The culprits - two men - threatened him with a knife, punched him and escaped with £800.
Mr Brinkworth, 26, said his last customer came in at around 10pm and stayed for roughly an hour.
“After that I was tidying up and doing some cleaning putting some glasses in the glass washer when I heard the door open,” he said. “I looked up and two guys had come in.
“I told them they were too late and they said fine and went to leave. I carried on with what I was doing when I heard a smash.
“One of them had smashed a glass on to the ground.
“They both said sorry and as I went to clean it up I was punched and the other came up with a knife and asked me to hand over the money.”
Mr Brinkworth did as he was told and went to the till and put the money into the bag.
He re-opened the pub yesterday afternoon but said he would be making sure he was not left alone late at night
Detective Ashley Hewitt, from Calderdale CID, said: “We’re appealing for anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area or saw anyone running away from the pub at around the time to get in touch.”
Anyone with information about the robbery, which happened at around 11.30pm on Tuesday, should call Calderdale CID on 01422 337085 or Crimestoppers, where information can be passed on anonymously, on 0800 555111.
The pub is also known as Mellors Bar and Phoenix Club.
