Captain Marc Roberts was named as player of the season as FC Halifax Town celebrated their campaign at their annual awards night.

Roberts is expected to leave the club this summer for a higher division but signed off from his time at The Shay in style by winning the player of the season trophy, the club award and the club’s official website’s player of the season accolade.

Lois Maynard was named runner-up, but did win the players’ player of the season and the AFC Halifax Town supporters team player of the season.

Other winners on the night included Jamie Jackson for goal of the season, James Bolton for young newcomer of the year and Scott Boden for the golden boot.

Josh Taylor won the under 19’s players player of the year while Ross Barrows won the under 19’s all round student award.

Former Manchester United and Wales footballer Micky Thomas was the guest speaker at the event at the Cedar Court in Bradford.
