A Brighouse activity centre will go head-to-to head with Yorkshire’s best to be crowned the top small visitor attraction in the county.

Rokt Climbing Gym has been nominated in the category for the Welcome to Yorkshire’s White Rose Awards.

The ceremony on November 9 honour the best tourism businesses in the county covering 16 categories including Tourism Event of the Year, Large Visitor Attraction and Restaurant with Rooms.

The climbing gym opened its doors to the public in April 2011.

Located in the belly of former flour mill, Sugden’s, the site has undergone continuous design, development and renovation, creating an ever-growing labyrinth of interesting and unique climbing environments.

The Shibden Mill Inn has also been nominated in three categories at the awards: Yorkshire Pub, Small Hotel/Townhouse and Restaurant with rooms.

Lizzie Jones, the widow of rugby league star Danny Jones, will open the show which will also feature the first full play of the anthemic song “Yorkshire” written by Gary Barlow and Tim Firth from their musical “The Girls”.

Fresh from their second consecutive county championship win, Yorkshire County Cricket Club players will be among special guests at the awards ceremony which is this year held at First Direct Arena in Leeds.

Treble winners Leeds Rhinos will also be at the event after a remarkable season.

Sir Gary Verity, Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: “The White Rose Awards 2015 promises to be the biggest and best yet with some exciting performances and some very special guests.

“We are proud to welcome players from Yorkshire County Cricket Club and Leeds Rhinos who are both championship winners after incredible seasons.

“It is also an honour to welcome Lizzie Jones who will be performing live and we are privileged to hear the first full play of the anthemic song ‘Yorkshire’ written by Gary Barlow and Tim Firth from their new musical based on our very own Calendar Girls.”

“Don’t miss out on the chance to enjoy the biggest tourism event of the year - good luck to all our finalists.”
