Rossendale United v FC Halifax Town: Form line points to another Town victory
FC Halifax Town and Rossendale United could not be approaching tomorrow's Unibond One North clash from more different angles.
The Shaymen will be bidding for their eighth successive league win - and an outright club record - as they look to consolidate their position at the top of the table.
United, however, have won just once in their last 13 games in all competitions and are second from bottom, just five points better off than basement side Salford City.
But that will not prevent the game from providing Jim Vince's side with another test on the road to their aim for the season - promotion at the first attempt.
The Shaymen will have to be on their guard against complacency, although the fact that they have had to come from behind in the last two league games against Woodley Sports and Chorley ought to have shown them that they will not have everything their own way.
The last two results also showed that Vince's side have the ability to deal with pretty much anything that is thrown at them.
And while the team has largely been unchanged during their impressive recent run, they have also been able to cope with the odd injury and end of loan here and there along the way.
Rossendale's new permanent manager Phil Eastwood will be keen to impose his style on his team having been appointed to the position this week after a spell in caretaker charge.
He originally took over temporarily from Dave Egan, who had three years at the helm, at the end of the last month.
Rossendale ended their miserable recent run with a 2-1 Lancashire Challenge Trophy win over Clitheroe on Tuesday night.
But in the league they have not won since September 6 when they beat Curzon Ashton 1-0 at Dark Lane.
Prior to that, their only taste of Unibond One North success was a 3-0 victory over Wakefield in August.
Last weekend they endured a miserable trip to the north east where they lost 4-0 to Durham City.
The evidence all points to a fourth successive away win in the league for the Shaymen and if Bamber Bridge slip up at Curzon Ashton their lead at the top could be more than the current three points by teatime tomorrow.
