Rossendale United v FC Halifax Town: Quick start is crucial - Barras
FC Halifax Town have to be on their game from the kick off when they go to Rossendale United on Saturday or their winning run could be in jeopardy.
That's the view of skipper Tony Barras after the Shaymen were forced to come from a goal down for the second successive league game against Chorley last weekend.
Rossendale may be floundering in the lower reaches of Unibond One North but Barras is expecting them to throw everything at the table-topping Shaymen in the opening stages.
"Every team is going to be like that, wherever we go," he said. "We have to get into a mentality where we are up for every game from the start.
"It showed good character to come from a goal down. It was just a shame that we needed the Gaffer and Nigel Jemson to tell us off before we get going.
"That is something we have to work on. We have to start games better.
"There will be another big following at Rossendale and we don't want to disappoint them."
Town will be looking for their eighth successive league win when they travel to Lancashire.
But despite the incredible run the team is on, Barras knows there is plenty more to come from them.
"We did not play well in the first half and were given a telling off in the changing room at half time," he said.
"It worked because we picked up in the second half and took our chances.
"Even though we were poor, Chorley only really had a couple of chances.
"That was one good thing - we didn't play well yet kept the opposition down to a couple of opportunities."
Barras bagged his first ever Town goal when he nodded home the third in injury time against Chorley last weekend.
And the veteran, who scored just 30 times in 445 Football League starts during his career, was clearly delighted.
"It was like rolling back the years!" he said. "I saw the keeper coming for the ball, then he stopped.
"I nodded it down and eventually it crawled over the line."
