GENEROUS rugby fans raided their pockets to donate cash to a Halifax charity for young people.
Volunteers from Project Challenge attended the match of Halifax RLFC and Widnes Vikings last week.
The chairty works with disaffected people aged 16-24 to get them into employment, education or training.
Mayor of Calderdale Councillor Nader Fekri also gave the appeal a boost with a half-time plea for fans to support the cause - his chosen charity for this year.
A bucket collection held before the game and at half time and raised £567.
The charity plans to use the funds to buy a new minibus for expeditions.
