Rugby Union - Students head off on South African trip
FOUR Hipperholme and Lightcliffe Students will shortly be swapping Calderdale for Pretoria as they head off for an eight day visit to South Africa with the England RFU.
The invitation for the school to send the students has come about on the back of the schools continual development in Rugby Union, its commitment to developing pupil leadership and also following its recent initiative to send rugby kit to a Pretorian township.
As one of only three schools in the country, the pupils will form a group of 12 who will undertake a tag leader's course and deliver a range of tag rugby sessions to Primary school children in Pretoria. The pupils hope to become record breakers by being part of the biggest tag rugby session in the world when they are joined by young leaders from around the world.
The pupils are guests of the recently crowned Super 14 Champion Bulls and will have tickets for the second test match between South Africa and the British Lions.
The pupils attending are Daniel Cole, Ben Lear, Amy Burston and Danielle Parker.
