DOZENS of riders took to the saddle for their annual horseback treasure hunt in scenic Shibden, Halifax.

The sun was shining as youngsters and older equestrianists alike mounted up and set out on the May Day hack.

They followed a trail of clues around the countryside before returning to the Shibden Mill Inn, which hosted the event, for refreshments.

The popular ride was organised by the Shibden and District Bridleways Association.

Cash raised by the event will be put towards maintaining bridleway routes, tackling closures or for opening up new routes around the area.
