A student from Halifax showcased her clothing designs at a prestigious event for young aspiring designers.
Samantha Bartle, 22, former Ryburn Valley High school pupil, turned heads on the catwalk at this year’s Graduate Fashion Week, held in London on May 31 - June 2.
Samantha said: “It was really fantastic seeing my clothes at the event.
“It has taken months of preparation because everything I design has a lot of attention to detail.”
The Manchester School of Art student has an androgynous take on menswear that she hoped stood out during the week.
“I predominantly design menswear, but my work definitely has an androgynous edge and could be worn by either men or women.
Despite moving away from Halifax to Manchester, Samantha tries to reflect her home in the clothes she designs.
“My design style reflect my Yorkshire heritage.
“I would say my design style is very personal to me and my collection is different because most of the fabrics featured in my work are completely original and unique, for example the leather which has been laser-etched and then tie-dyed,” she added.
The event is only the beginning of what is to come for Samantha, as she graduates from the Manchester design school this summer.
She hopes to get into commercial designing eventually.
