Acting head Anne Stead said: “We felt it was good to be think about children not as fortunate as ourselves.

“One of the children wrote on their box: I hope you enjoy playing with the toys inside as I spent a lot of time thinking about what you might like to play with.

“I think that says we succeeded. I am very proud of the school, which sent 77 boxes – a fantastic result from our 82 families.”

The last boxes will be given out on November 21.
