Thieves have ransacked Halifax Rugby League’s club shop for the second time in a week.

In the latest raid they smashed into the store at the Shay and stole kit and merchandise worth up to £10,000.

The stock had only just been replaced following a 2am raid the previous Saturday.

Police have recovered CCTV from both incidents.

Fax kit can only be bought legitimately from the club shop and Harvey’s in the town centre.

Director Mike Riley warned supporters not to buy shirts or merchandise from anywhere other than the official retailers and said the club was offering a reward for any information that led to a conviction.

“We want people to report it to the police if anyone approaches them offering them kit,” he said.

“There are only two places in Halifax who sell kit, so I’m not sure where these people think they’re going to be able to sell it. We’ll be watching eBay and as soon as kit starts to be sold we’ll tell police,” he said.

“We’re offering a full dining package for 10, at a game of your choice, worth about £800, to any one who can give information to the police which leads to a conviction,” he said.

Mike said one fan was offered kit by two men in a black VW Golf on Saturday lunchtime at Morrisons in Illingworth.

“One guy had a Scottish accent and the Golf had its number plates covered with black tape. If you see this car please let us or the police know,” he said.
