THE sun shone and the rain mostly stayed away for the thousands who flocked to this year’s Halifax Charity Gala.
Young and old lined the streets on Saturday to see the colourful procession snake through the town to Manor Heath.
There, the crowds enjoyed a host of entertainment, from falconry and dance displays to funfair rides, body zorbing and a bonny baby competition.
Also taking part were more than 40 charities expected to have collectively raised thousands of pounds.
Mayor of Calderdale Nader Fekri praised the hard work of the organisers and the generosity of the crowds.
“It’s wonderful to see the dedication of a small group of people who have put on a show for everyone in Calderdale,” he said.
“I know times are hard but it’s often when times are tough that people put their hands in the pockets and realise there are people less fortunate than them.”
