Showroom jobs saved by takeover of interiors firm

a BUYER has been found for a troubled interiors firm, saving up to 10 Calderdale jobs.

Norwood Interiors, which has a showroom in Spring Street Studios, Brighouse, went into administration last Thursday.

Now, My House Group has agreed to buy the main part of the Leeds-based kitchen, bedroom and bathroom business, which also has a showroom in Abbey Retail Park, Kirkstall.

A total of 20 showroom jobs have been saved but 13 have been lost in its Leeds warehouse and distribution centre.

Darren Cornwall, chief financial officer at My House Group, said: “Norwood Interiors is a strong brand with stunning showrooms and is renowned for quality products and great customer service. I’m sure we can make it successful again.”

The group owns a string of other home improvement firms across the country including Christies Kitchens, Weatherseal and Job Worth Doing.

Chris Wood, partner and insolvency practitioner at administrators Clough Corporate Solutions, said: “Norwood is a well-known name in Yorkshire and has been around for more than 25 years so we are delighted to have found a buyer.

“Although Norwood has suffered in the recession it still has a fantastic reputation and should complement the companies within My House Group.”
