Shrewsbury Town 2 Bradford City 0: Moncur injury mars City clash
A SERIOUS injury to Bradford defender Thomas Moncur marred this Division Two clash at the New Meadow which the home side eventually won comfortably.
Moncur collided with team-mate Graham Lee in the opening four minutes of the match and as they both lay motionless on the pitch, former Halifax Town striker Grant Holt hit the loose ball against Rhys Evans' legs and Ben Davies controversially slotted home from 12-yards.
The pair both appeared to recover and continued playing but Moncur suddenly collapsed 13 minutes later and was treated for eight minutes by medics before being carried off on a stretcher.
When the action resumed, the home side dominated proceedings and went close to extending their advantage through Holt, who hit the post, before on-loan midfielder Sean Thornton fired the ball over from five yards.
Shrewsbury made sure when they added a further goal late in second-half injury time when Richard Walker scored from close range after good work by Holt.
