Musician AJ Brown returned to his roots to give a performance to pupils at his old school.

The Halifax-born singer and saxophonist performed a 45-minute gig at Heathfield Primary School after joining pupils in class for a question-and-answer session.

He said: “It’s been lovely to give the pupils something a bit different and try to inspire them.

“It was a real pleasure trying to make them think differently about what they might end up doing in future.

“I’ve got really fond memories of the school. I had a great education there.

“Halifax is definitely where the heart is. I love the area and love being in Rishworth.”

Kim Fraser, from the school, said: “It was packed with staff and students.

“The pupils asked him lots of questions and really enjoyed it.

“He’s such a phenomenal talent and a real inspiration to the children.”

AJ and his signature show band will be in concert at Dean Clough, Halifax, on Sunday, October 20.
