Sowerby Bridge motorcyclist killed in Scotland

A 42-year-old Sowerby Bridge motorcyclist was killed in a Scottish road accident.

Darren Lassey died after his black/white BMW motorcycle collided with a white Mercedes Sprinter van on the A86 at Lochaber.

The accident on May 1, at 6.25 pm happened in a rural setting a few miles east of Roy Bridge, in the Highlands.

Mr Lassey, a single man, was taken to the Belford Hospital, Fort William, where he subsequently died from his injuries.

He was on a riding break with friends touring the Highlands.

It was the second motorcycle fatality on the A86 in Lochaber in a week as another rider from Northamptonshire died in a two-vehicle collision on Tuesday this week.

Mr Lassey leaves brothers Chris and Gary and a sister Dawn.

His funeral takes place at Park Wood Crematorium, Elland, on Tuesday, at 11.15 am.
