The Tour de France which comes through Calderdale next year will be overseen by a top sport executive Sir Rodney Walker.
Yorkshire’s Grand Depart will have the former Wakefield Trinity Rugby League chairman and World Snooker Association head at its helm.
Sir Rodney, who has declined to comment ahead of his official unveiling later this month, will chair a new body - TDF 2014 Ltd - set up to organise the event. His appointment was hailed by a cross-party group of MPs from the region who have been lobbying for the event to be as successful as possible.
The Tour de France will pass through Calderdale on Sunday, July 6, as part of stage 2 - the borough hosts 35km of route before the race heads to Huddersfield.
