Rastrick High School staff celebrated the end of their 25th anniversary with a glittering night at Bertie’s in Elland.
Guests attended the Jubilee Dinner and Ball in their finest attire, enjoyed a reception in the Rennie Mackintosh Room, then made their way to the Crystal Ballroom for a three-course dinner before dancing the night away.
The school launched the jubilee year celebrations in September last year and since then there has been a series of events, including a commemorative whole-school photograph, poet Ian McMillan giving a guest speech at the presentation evening, a gala concert at Huddersfield Town Hall and the opening of the new Technology College.
In January, the Jubilee Minibus Appeal was launched to raise £10,000 – a target reached in just six months.
The new bus is expected to arrive by the end of the month and has been ordered in silver, to mark the occasion.
The year was topped off with the school’s best ever exam results.
Head teacher Helen Lennie said: “It was a terrific evening and a great way to celebrate the culmination of our 25th anniversary year.
“Everyone at the school is proud of what we achieved over the past 12 months and looking forward to the next 25 years.”
