There are now 300 members and Mr Hughes said he had immense satisfaction for what the Lions had achieved in road, fell and cross country events.

He also said members had access to a busy social life away from running with events happening almost every week.

The Mick Woodhouse award, named in honour of one of the late founder members, was presented by Fiona Woodhouse to cross-country captain Richard Hand for his outstanding commitment to the club.

The Roy Spencer founder’s trophy went to Geoff Matthews for his dedication and service over many years. Special awards were presented to Lucy Thompson and Phil Tucker.
