Square Chapel Centre for the Arts are £6,000 better off, thanks to your voting.

The money was awarded in July thanks to the Royal Bank of Scotland and NatWest Community Force award but Pniocchio has now come to life with professional theatre company Proper Job. The show, starring young people and professional actors, runs until December 30. The successful 25 young people between the ages of eight and 16 have gone through two months of workshops and rehearsals before their run began.

A trio of groups were given the chance to win awards of £6,000 each, and the winning groups were decided over the summer by a public vote.

Square Chapel’s development assistant Jo Clayton says: “We’re absolutely delighted to have received this funding. It has provided an exciting opportunity for local children to be engaged in a professional theatre production, perform in a professional venue and learn performance skills. We also wanted to make sure that Pinocchio will be accessible to everyone by offering reductions and subsidies on the full ticket price to as many sectors of society as possible.”
