Members from the Cromwell Bottom Wildlife Group were joined by staff from Calderdale Council’s Countryside Service to help manage the unique and diverse local nature reserve with a variety of practical activities.

Robin Dalton from Cromwell Bottom Nature Reserve said: “The Wildlife group is a community organisation which is actively involved in raising money to promote conservation and access at Cromwell Bottom.

They also hold regular work party days which give members the chance to take an active role in managing the reserve.

Cromwell Bottom is situated on a former quarry, ash tip and landfill site, but is now home to a variety of bird and insect life.
