Taxi driver robbed by two men

POLICE are hunting two men who robbed a taxi driver this morning.

The cabbie was driving along Free School Lane in Savile Park. Halifax, between 1.30am and 1.45am when he was flagged down by two men.

One got in the front passenger seat and the other opened the driver’s door.

The one in the passenger seat then punched the taxi driver before both escaped with cash and a mobile phone.

Both men were described as white, aged between 18 and 22, about 5ft 7ins tall, medium build and clean shaven.

One had short dark brown hair and was wearing blue jeans and a blue T-shirt.

The other had short brown or ginger hair and was wearing a dark blue jacket and jeans.

Detective Inspector Ashley Hewitt, from Calderdale CID, appealed for anyone who was in the area at the time of the robbery, saw anyone acting suspiciously or recognises someone from the descriptions given to get in touch.
