INTREPID trekkers will tackle on of Europe’s most renowned long distance walk in aid of the Overgate Hospice.

A team of five friends called the Halifax Wayfarers will circle the Mont Blanc Massif, taking in three countries and covering 130 miles – 35,000ft uphill – in 10 days.

Michael Holroyd, one of those walking, said: “As the trek is quite challenging, to say the least, we decided that we would use it as an opportunity to raise money for a good cause. After careful consideration we decided on Overgate Hospice in Halifax.

“Between the five of us we are therefore aiming to raise over £7,500 through corporate sponsorship and private donations.”
