A teenage drummer from Mytholmroyd has been touring the world with hit techno pop punk band Republica.

Conor Lawrence has already been to Europe, Hong Kong and Dubai with the group, who had a number seven hit with Drop Dead Gorgeous and number 13 hit with Ready To Go in 1997.

The 19-year-old, who joined the band this year, said: “We also played the Isle of Wight Festival and we’re going on a UK tour in March.

“No week is the same. I have to look in my diary and see where I am each day, but I’d get bored if I worked just in a band. I like a bit of variation.

“A lot of people are surprised to see a 19-year-old playing in a well-known band but it’s nice to play with people who know what they are doing.”

Conor is also a drum tutor at Halifax Drum School, which offers lessons at Guitar Zone in Halifax town centre.

The school is holding a taster session this weekend where people can try drumming for free.
