A teenager hopes to inspire school pupils across Calderdale with a book about his own experiences of adoption.
David Neville, 17, from Halifax, penned his book “We Adopted Each Other” as a way to help others in similar situations.
His journey began in 2012 after a visit to see his sister in Australia.
“I was on the plane coming back from Australia when I had the idea for the book, spending time with my family abroad made me realise how important they are as I don’t see them that often,” David, a pupil at the Maltings College, said.
“It was quite hard to write the book, I had to go on long walks to calm me down as thinking about my past could get me quite angry.
“But I want people to see what I’ve achieved despite what I have gone through in life.”
David will take the book on tour across Calderdale schools in the hope of encouraging those with similar stories.
He added: “I’m excited about going on tour with the book. I’d also like to do a theatre show to help others who have been in my situation.”
