A teenager who carried out an unprovoked assault on a schoolboy in Halifax has been ordered to pay his victim £75 compensation.

Recorder Sophie Drake at Bradford Crown Court said the injuries suffered by the 15-year-old, who cannot be named, were worth more than that, but she had to take account of 19-year-old Kashaan Ismail’s financial circumstances as a student.

Ismail, of Coleridge Street, Halifax, and a 17-year-old who can’t be named were both found guilty of assaulting the boy last May. Ismail was given a 12-month community order and 200 hours unpaid work, while the 17-year-old was given a 12-month youth rehab order and 100 hours unpaid work.
