GENEROUS pubgoers have been collecting for those in need.
The Queen Victoria in Northowram asked customers to donate goods for food parcels to be handed out by The Salvation Army.
Licensee Alison MacGrath said she had been delighted by people’s responses, with many donating more than asked.
“We’ve had a fantastic response,” she said. “The idea has been so well received.
“People have been bringing four packs of baked beans and we’ve had a massive bag of rice.
“One night local tradesman Criag Zlotowski came in and gave us £50 in vouchers and £50 in cash to give to the Salvation Army.”
