A quiz enthusiast is to return to television screens to take on the Chaser on the popular ITV gameshow The Chase.
Graham Townsend, from Skircoat Green, is to appear on the programme today, Friday, and go up against one of the finest quiz brains in Britain.
After auditioning in Leeds, in September, the 46-year-old made it through to the show where he filmed the episode which will be aired at 5pm.
Graham ia no stranger to the quiz and gameshow circuit.
“I have appeared on 15-to-one a couple of times and the Channel Five show Number One,” he said.
“It was a while ago, so I wanted to try it again.
“The whole experience was really good.
“The TV company paid for all the travel and stay arrangements.
“Host Bradley Walsh was really friendly but the Chaser was a bit intimidating.
“However, people on the set gave you tips on what you should be doing.”
Already armed with a depth of knowledge from his time competing in quiz leagues, he still brushed up on other subjects.
“You try to read websites and news to brush up on subjects and keep up to date on current affairs,” he added.
On the programme contestants must answer general knowledge questions to get themselves into the Final Chase, where they could win a cash pot worth thousands of pounds.
However, standing in the way is their common enemy, the programme’s Chaser - one of the finest quiz brains in the country who will chase contestants down the board in a test of knowledge to try to catch them and throw them out of the game.
