The Huddersfield and Halifax Geographical Society enjoy their first meeting of the new season

The Huddersfield and Halifax Geographical Society’s first meeting of the new season was held on September 23 at aHuddersfield University.

More than 40 members and visitors gathered to listen to the speaker, Terry Fones on the subject of “ Wild in Oman.”

He led The British Exploring Society Expedition, a group of 24 people aged 18 to 24 to the Wadi Sayq area of the Dhofar Mountains for a two month field study.

They had been invited by the Oman Government to verify the existence or absence of the endangered Arabian leopard.

The next meeting will be held on October 28 and the speaker will Roger Chapman who will deliver a talk on “The North West Frontier” - A Venture in to Pathan Territory,

The venue for all the meetings is Canalside Lecture Theatre at the University of Huddersfield.
