STAFF at the Rock Hotel, Holywell Green, are celebrating winning the latest heat of our Pub of the Year competition.
The Rock received top marks from Heat 4 which covered the HX4 and HX5 postcode areas.
Manager Alison Arber said it was great news for the pub and its customers.
Earlier this year the Rock - which also has a restaurant and hotel accommodation - opened up its bar to build up regular trade from the local community after the nearby Holywell Inn closed.
“We have built up a loyal following,” said Alison.
The Rock receives a plaque for winning the heat and a place in the Grand Final which starts on June 29.
The final will involve all heat winners competing for the title of Courier Pub of the Year 2012, the Love Your Local Cup and an external building banner, all donated by sponsors Brigg’s Priestley.
The last heat of the competition includes all pubs in the HX6 postcode area and they will feature in the very first weekly Halifax Courier on June 1.
