ARTISTS opened their doors to show off their hard work at the latest Open Studios event.

More than 64 artists dotted around the Calder Valley invited visitors inside their workshops.

The free event is organised by a small group of artists and sees groups open their studios to talk about their art and show off their works.

Artists included Amy Mellis in Todmorden, Helen Sargeant, weaver Nicola Wheeler and furniture maker Jim Leach.

Groups at the Linden Mill and Northlight Art Studios, both in Hebden Bridge, welcomed people inside.

Richard Wincer, who exhibits in the Artsmill, Linden Mill, said people had travelled from across the north to see the art on show.

It was his eighth year of taking part.

“I was talking to one couple from Skipton, another from Bradford, but there’s also locals who came to see what’s happening.

“It’s been a very good feeling down here,” he said.

He said the weather had given a welcome boost to visitor numbers and the exhibitors had a succesful weekend.
