Three CID girls get the Gok treatment

FABULOUS fashionista Gok Wan has worked his magic on three of Calderdale's CID officers.

Their jobs can mean Detective Constables Angela Barr, Emma Goodridge and Delia Lenihan spend time in some of the most unsavoury and undesirable parts of the district.

But it was glamour all the way when they volunteered to be part of Gok's latest Channel 4 presentation, Gok's Fashion Roadshow.

Emma said: "Endermol for Channel 4 contacted West Yorkshire Police and advertised for a group of women who work together to take part in a make- over programme.

"We were tired of wearing jeans and hoodies in our roles as detectives so wanted the chance of a make- over and for some guidance about what we should wear for our body shapes.

"We were really excited at the prospect of meeting Gok and being 'Gokked'."

Camera crews visited the women's homes where their friends and family were interviewed about their fashion senses and all three had their hair cut and coloured by top celebrity stylist Jamie Stevens.

Gok hand-picked outfits for each officer, which were revealed at a catwalk show for an audience of their nearest and dearest at the Corn Exchange in Leeds.

Angela said: "Gok is just like he is portrayed on the television. He is bubbly, funny, caring and is definitely a feel-good person.

"He was lovely when we first met him, very chatty and down-to-earth, and made you feel relaxed.

"Of course him being this way helped us to just go with the flow and trust his judgement.

"All the team were in fact lovely people and it really was an experience of a life time."

The episode featuring the officers will be shown on Channel 4 on Tuesday, February 8.
