Tom stays at Town but Stott goes back to Wales
TOM Baker has handed new boss Neil Aspin an early boost in his Town rebuilding efforts by agreeing a new one year deal at the Shay.
But Ashley Stott has decided not to stay at Halifax and has returned to Bangor City in the League of Wales.
The combative midfielder Baker was a huge hit with the Shay fans after arriving from Bradford Park Avenue in October.
He was a shining light in an ultimately disappointing season for the team and eventually cleaned up at the end of season player awards.
He is the first of last season's squad to agree terms for the 2009-10 campaign, although there are not expected to be too many players returning to the club after the team's failure to even reach the Unibond One North play-offs.
All the players have been told by new boss Aspin that they are welcome at pre-season training which starts early next month.
Striker Stott had been one of just two players contracted to Halifax Town for the 2009-10 campaign - Mark Peers was the other.
But the club allowed him to leave after he agreed personal terms with the Welsh club yesterday afternoon.
He was the Shaymen's leading scorer last term with 22 goals in 45 appearances.
