A Hebden Bridge cafe has scooped a top award in a prestigious food competition.

Love Grows, at Hollins Place, reached the finals of the deliciouslyorkshire Taste Awards in the Best Afternoon Tea category.

And there was celebration last week when husband and wife team Moira and Mike Stedman learnt they had won at a glittering awards ceremony in Harrogate.

The cafe scored a fantastic 99 points out of 100.

The couple said: “We are absolutely delighted, it was amazing and we just could not believe it. It was a wonderful evening and showed that all the hard work we put into making the business succesful has really paid off.

“We pride ourselves on detail and quality food and it shows that it is appreciated, this award is good for Hebden Bridge too.

“The judges said the atmosphere in the cafe was lovely and welcoming. Now we’ll just keep looking at our menu and we hope the award will bring more people in to our cafe.”

In their afternoon tea, Mike and Moira offer a huge choice of delicious goodies, including 10 sandwich choices, four choices of speciality bread and eight cake choices.

The couple pride themselves on their selection of gluten-free cakes and breads, so there’s no excuse for customers not to indulge in a sweet treat or two. Those following a gluten-free diet can enjoy a full afternoon tea, modified to their requirements
