A GROUP from Halifax Boys’ Brigade has been awarded their highest accolade.

The Queen’s Award was presented at Sheffield Town Hall to Daniel Murgatroyd, of 2nd Halifax, Matthew Normanton, of 12th Halifax, Christopher Waddington and Joshua Griffiths, of 22nd Halifax.

Thirty members of brigades from across Yorkshire received the top award, which recognise boys volunteering 30 hours supporting others in their community and learning new practical and social skills. The awards were presented by the Lord Lieutenant for South Yorkshire, David Moody.

Councillor Sylvia Dunkley, Lord Mayor of Sheffield, said: “The boys are not only a credit to themselves but to their families, their company and their local communities.”
