Calderdale residents will soon be in the know about this year’s Tour de France when they receive a leaflet explaining what will happen on the weekend of July 5 and 6.
As well as practical advice, the leaflet highlights the opportunities to see the Tour and get involved in the 100 day cultural festival linked to the Tour de France.
There are lots of free events happening across Calderdale from the 27 March to 6 July, including a grand piano being cycled up Cragg Vale, a ‘fantastical cycle parade’ and a puppet filled treasure hunt.
The Leader of Calderdale Council, Coun Tim Swift, said: “There’s lots going on during the Tour de France weekend and the 100 day cultural festival, with many towns and villages planning events with big screens, food and entertainment.
“Calderdale will be bustling, with a minimum of 160,000 visitors expected. This will not be a typical weekend, but to make sure we’re prepared, we are contacting local residents with practical information about the Tour in the region.
“Most of all, we want people to enjoy the event, and experience the excitement of this once in a lifetime opportunity.”
The leaflet is also available electronically. Visit www.visitcalderdale.com to download your copy.
