Football fans were under starters order at their annual race night.

Halifax Town Supporters’ Club and AFC Halifax, the supporters’ own football club which is made up of Town fans, staged the event at the Kingston Social Club in Hopwood Lane.

There were eight races on the card, with horses bought and named by the fans.

The winning owners were John Luders, Martin Bishop, Roger Bottomley, Annali Powell, Martin Probets and Stewart Heaton.

The night, sponsored by Jet Wash Shop in Halifax, raised a total of £630, which will be split between the supporters’ club, AFC Halifax and the Kingston Social Club.

Co-organiser Stewart Heaton, from the Supporters’ Club, said: “I’d like to thank those who did buy horses or who sponsored races, and of course those who were able to be there on the night.

“We’re looking forward to running more joint nights like this in the future.”.
