FC Halifax Town handed over £2,000 to three local charities at their final home game of the season against Torquay.

Town were given the money by The FA having reached the first round of the FA Cup this season, and chose the charities to benefit.

Kay Lund from the Alzeimer’s Society for Calderdale, Michelle Wood from the Maurice Jagger Centre for the Disabled and Elderly of Calderdale and John McGall from Calderdale Disabled Advice Resource Team were all in attendance to receive their donations.

The charities nominated had to be registered with the Charity Commission and within the local area.

Louisa Green, from the club, said: “It is excellent that the choice of charity is determined by the club and allows charities in the local area to benefit from vitally needed resource to help their activities.”
