Town appeal 'on Wednesday'
Halifax Town could discover their fate this Wednesday when the Football Association are expected to hear their appeal against the Conference ruling that the club is not eligible to play in the league.
And should the Shaymen be successful, it would force an extraordinary general meeting of the league.
As expected, Halifax's future was not discussed at the Conference's two-hour agm held in Blackpool on Saturday
But Conference officials have made plans for the 2008-09 campaign without Town or Boston United who are also appealing their expulsion in 48 hours time.
Conference chief executive Dennis Strudwick is maintaining that the Conference were correct in the way they have dealt with both Halifax and Boston.
But he has admitted that "an outside influence" could affect the decisions made at the weekend.
Those outside influences are clearly the FA who must decide who is correct this week.
There is a further matter that clouds the issue, the fact that the FA Leagues Committee are meeting today (Monday).
That is the body that decides which team plays in which division. A successful appeal on Wednesday would force a further meeting.
Votes in the Halifax Town Supporters' Trust ballot to decide whether the organisation will back a fans' run or consortium backed club are due to be counted tonight.
