Town's Aspin appoints right hand man

FC Halifax Town manager Neil Aspin has confirmed former Bradford Park Avenue boss Trevor Storton as his assistant.

The pair were together last season at Harrogate Town in Blue Square North where Storton was on the coaching staff.

The 59-year-old has a wealth of experience from his time playing with Chester, for whom he appeared over 500 times, Tranmere and Liverpool.

He was manager at Bradford Park Avenue from 1997 to 2004 and more recently had a spell as assistant manager at Guiseley.

"Trevor has a lot of experience," said Aspin. "But the main thing for me is that he is trustworthy and loyal.

"That is the type of person I like to work with.

"He played under Bill Shankly at Liverpool and while it may only have been for a few matches it is good to have that on your CV."

Aspin, meanwhile, has spoken about his decision to allow striker Ashley Stott to rejoin Bangor City in the League of Wales.

Last season's leading scorer at the Shay was one of only two contracted players at the club when Aspin arrived.

"Ashley was offered the chance to go back to Bangor and decided to take it," said Aspin.

"I said when I arrived that I only wanted players who want to play for this club."

FC Halifax Town secretary Angie Firth will be leaving the club at the end of the month.

But she is set to stay in the game when she takes up an as yet unconfirmed position.

Firth served the old club for six years in two spells and remained at the Shay in the new club's first season in the Unibond League.

A club statement read: "FC Halifax Town has reluctantly accepted the resignation of Club Secretary, Angie Firth.

"Angie has great experience in all aspects of football administration, good organisational ability and excellent secretarial skills and these abilities will be a challenge to replace.

"The Club would like to thank Angie for all that she has done and wish her well in her future move.

"Her new appointment should provide her with great opportunities in the future. She leaves on June 30."

The club has advertised for two positions following the announcement - an experienced football club secretary, which could be full or part-time, and an office administration/sales position.

The former's duties will include the management of player's contracts, player's registrations, liaising with all the various football bodies and managing all football administration requirements.

The latter is a general office administrator role which will includes telephone, clerical (emails, word and excel) and first class organisational skills.

Applicants should apply in writing to FC Halifax Town Ltd, The Shay Stadium, Shay Syke, Halifax HX1 2YS.

Alternatively, applicants can email angiefirth@halifaxafc.co.uk of fax 01422-349487.
