Sowerby Bridge businesses have pledged their support to a life-saving campaign.

Town centre traders: Deli Belge; Trinkette Gift Shop and Village Restaurant are distributing donation forms for Sowerby Bridge Rotary’s Tree of Lights and Defibrillator Project - to sponsor a light on a tree, in memory of a loved one, and to donate towards the installation of a public life-saving defibrillator.

The public is being asked to sponsor a light on the Village Restaurant carpark ash tree in memory of a loved one.

The ‘big switch on’ is taking place on November 14 at 6pm, Wharf Street, when the Mayor of Calderdale councillor Pat Allen will officially turn on the lights.

Contributors to the campaign are invited to fill in a donation form, in memory of a loved one, which will be displayed in the town’s library in a book of remembrance.

The lights will remain switched on throughout Christmas until January 6, 2015.

Rotarians hope the project will raise £2,000 for a town centre defibrillator and the club is working with Yorkshire Ambulance Service to locate a ‘hot-spot’ public location.

Completed dedication forms can be handed in to participating retailers or posted to Rotary Club of Sowerby Bridge, c/o Sportsmans Inn, Rochdale Road, Greetland, Halifax, HX4 8PL.
