A MAN was left trapped in his car for up to six hours after it went into a ravine.
The 33-year-old male was spotted in his Vauxhall Corsa by a passing motorist near Baitings Reservoir, Ripponden.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 9.55am today.
When they arrived the man was semi-conscious and suffering from head injuries and a suspected broken femur.
Fire crews from Halifax and Elland attended to help free him from the vehicle.
They worked alongside paramedics, a mountain-rescue team, police and a doctor for around two hours to get the man to an ambulance.
He was rushed to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and was this afternoon in a critical condition.
An air ambulance was called for but they were unable to get close to the scene due to the strong winds.
Police are investigating how the car left the road and crashed in the ravine.
