Five people have died following a two-car crash in South Yorkshire.

Five teenagers - three males and two females from the Doncaster area - died of their injuries after the Toyota car they were travelling in was involved in a collision with a SEAT vehicle on the A630 near Conisbrough, Doncaster, South Yorkshire Police said.

The incident happened at around 9.40pm last night (November 15).

The man driving the SEAT was also taken to hospital after he suffered a broken leg, police said.

A 21-year-old man believed to be driving a third vehicle was later arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, but has been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Police said formal identification has not yet taken place.

South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue tweeted: “We send our deepest condolences to the families affected by the fatal RTC we attended last night.”

The road was closed while police were at the scene and was reopened at around 3am this morning (Sunday).
