Northern Gas Networks is starting work on a £222,000 project to replace an old metal gas main in the Cain Lane area of Southowram.
The upgrade will involve the existing metal gas main being replaced with more durable plastic pipes which will ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to our customers in the area.
The replacement work will start on Thursday, May 28, and is expected to take 22 weeks to complete.
An essential road closure will be in place along Cain Lane at the junction with Chapel Lane for six weeks from Monday July 22 to Monday September 2. Access to Chapel Lane will not be affected.
Stuie Armin, Customer Operations Area Manager said: “We are working hard to minimise disruption to both residents and motorists and we have carefully planned our work so the road closure coincides with the main school holidays when the traffic is less heavy. We know that this is a busy route and apologise in advance for any disruption our essential work might cause.”
