Grand Central has made an application to obtain the right to run trains until 2026.

The 28 day consultation will seek views on the extension of Grand Central’s current Track Access Contract approved by the Office of Rail Regulation. Over the next few years, they plan to make significant investment in its train fleet, supporting stations and infrastructure. They are applying to extend the current contract for ten years so they can grow and improve the service for Grand Central’s passengers and communities.

Network Rail is running the consultation and comments can be made through their website. Any responses to the consultation should be sent to Jonathan Cooper of Alliance Rail, who’s acting on behalf of Grand Central at jc@alliancerail.com by 5pm on September 2.

They hope to have a decision by the end of the year.
