Serious RTA in Holmfirth

Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic incident which occurred at 2:23pm this afternoon (Wednesday) on Huddersfield Road in Holmfirth.

Emergency services were called after a 69-year-old local man reportedly came off his pedal cycle, following a collision with a Vauxhall Corsa.

He suffered a serious head injury and was transported to Leeds General Infirmary via air ambulance where he is currently in a critical condition.

Officers arrested the 21-year-old male driver and a 43-year-old male passenger of the Vauxhall Corsa and enquiries are ongoing to determine the precise circumstances of what took place.

Huddersfield Road was closed between Ray Gate and Cold Hill Lane this afternoon.
